How to add a UPI QR code to your invoice (with the exact amount)

Most invoices in India end with "UPI: name@okhdfcbank" in small print. The client has to open their UPI app, type the ID, type the amount, and the payment usually arrives with no reference. You then match it to the invoice by hand.

A dynamic UPI QR fixes that. One scan opens the client's UPI app with your UPI ID, the exact amount and the invoice number already filled in.

Fastest way: the free invoice maker adds this QR to every PDF. Type your UPI ID, add items, download. No signup, nothing uploaded.

What the QR actually contains

A UPI QR is just a UPI payment link encoded as a QR code:

upi://pay?pa=yourname@okhdfcbank&pn=Your%20Name&am=11800.00&cu=INR&tn=INV-014

FieldMeaning
paYour UPI ID (payee address)
pnYour name or business name as the client will see it
amExact amount, two decimals
cuCurrency, always INR
tnNote: put the invoice number here so the payment is easy to match

Doing it by hand

Build the link above with your details, paste it into any QR generator, and drop the image into your Word or Canva invoice. Redo it for every invoice, because the amount and invoice number change each time.

Things that break it

A wrong or mistyped UPI ID (always name@bank). An amount with a comma like 11,800 instead of 11800.00. A QR that is too small to scan after printing (keep it at least 3 cm wide). A static QR from your bank's app has no amount, so the client still has to type it.

Is it safe?

The QR only tells the client's app where to send money and how much. The client still approves the payment with their UPI PIN, and the money goes directly to your bank. PayParchi never touches it.
